I will come to see you, as often as I can. c. 2021 - forever growing Artist: Irene Antonia Diane Reece Archives: Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire, Dakar, Sénégal Info : Young man and woman, Lébou Bargny Photographer: Mauny Place photographed: Thiés, Sénégal Year: 1952 Archives: ©ifan sav I firstly want to thank the Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire, Sokhna Fall, and @kwessimswone for their help in retrieving the archives and materials that made this body of work possible. It is currently viewing at the Black Rock 40 @blackrocksenegal , part of the Dak’Art Biennale. There have been so many renditions and experimental moments while creating this work. I ended up making 6 cyanotypes prints on traditional Senegalese fabric with a mixture of text, beadwork and of course the usage of Senegalese archives. I’m truly blessed to experience such a place and folx alike. I’m still processing the fact that I have a deep connection to this place. I will forever feel whole and at home when I go to Senegal. I believe this is just the beginning for me working with the Senegalese archives and that really excites me. I wish I had better shots of my work from the biennale but this will do. I can’t wait to gift these back to the universities that I took from, for it was never mine to take only to celebrate and give. Thank you all again for supporting and watching my journey as an artist. Stay blessed for I am trying to rest. ⭐️ With so much love, Bean 💕
