"Aswin and I have known each other since school. He was a senior to me. Even though I liked him but it never forwarded from friendship to anything else back then. In high school, I heard that he was dating my friend. I was happy for them and gave up the idea of ever dating him. I went to college and we had lost touch for a few years. In 2019 we disclosed to our parents about our relationship, but they didn't take it the way we expected. There were a lot of conflicts based on economic status. But we were adamant about being with each other. So we went ahead and got registered for marriage. Our family understood that we were serious about each other. So they held an engagement ceremony for us. A few months later, Aswin got a job in Dubai and had to move out within a month. In 2020 he went to Dubai and covid lockdown happened and he was stuck for 2 years straight. It was hard for us. He returned in 2022, we didn't delay the marriage any further. Both of our families were present. And during the ceremony, he surprised me with that kiss which I had mentioned to him in passing and for 4 years he remembered it. I was blushing. My mother also loved this gesture of him and told me later, "I hope he always loves you like this." His relatives were also amused and kept smiling at me and pulling his leg throughout the ceremony.
