PICARD COSTUME ARTISANS SPOTLIGHT Michael Sloan - Tailor/Cutter #michaelsloan The wealth and scope of skills that a master Tailor brings to the cutting table is astounding. A truly excellent Tailor is a difficult acquisition for a Costume Department (they are highly sought after!) and I am beyond grateful that Michael Sloan accepted my invitation to join our team for Season 2. Often misunderstood and underappreciated, the fine art of tailoring can elevate a costume design in its execution. The subtlety of engineering through mathematical ratios, creating the perfect gesture of line in a lapel or shoulder seem, Michael's artistry is the chef's kiss throughout Picard's costume arc this season. Michael and his team, @vickyantonyan #berthamacias, created all of Patrick Stewart's costumes including the superbly tailored, brown asymmetrical suiting of episode one, chateau vineyard chic, a Starfleet Admiral uniform, the Stargazer Captain's jacket, Borgslayers, Confederation General's uniform, tuxedos, and the glorious textured blue-gray field jacket with its nod to uniforms past. Their careful attention and meticulous craft also went into creating Rios' @santiagoc jacketing and uniforms, Q's iconic double-faced satin frock coat, Soong's @brentjspiner ode to Bogart tuxedo and so many other beautifully made garments!
