This is the hardest post I’ve had to make. My Grandpa was like my first super hero. Growing up he had this big booming voice like thunder that would either scare you or protect you depending on the circumstance. He was a strong and proud man who worked for everything he had. When I was little, we’d always take my sister and I on trips down to the country to see my family. Family was everything to him. I had the pleasure of watching his hard exterior soften through the years and give way to a much gentler and often times sillier demeanor. He was fiercely competitive. Didn’t matter the age. If you dared to sit down and challenge him in checkers or cards or tic-tac-toe etc...you were going to get his best. Even if you’re 6. No exceptions. He was deeply grateful for those around him. Anytime I’d do something for him he’d always say “thank you kindly, I’ll dance at your wedding!” And while I’ve yet to get married, if I ever do you better believe I still want my dance.
