Hyperpigmentation is common in areas of friction such as elbows and knees and may be more common in skin of color. A goal with treatment is to turn over the skin cells and moisturize the area. Moisturizing products with lactic acid and urea can be effective to help gently exfoliate while not drying out the skin. Topical retinoids can also be effective but should be paired with a moisturizer (and may be used in conjunction with lactic acid or urea creams). Other ingredients used for treating hyperpigmentation, including hydroquinone, may be used but the ones mentioned in the video are a good place to start. I realize Amlactin is not readily available in 🇨🇦though you may find it online. Another product to consider that combines both lactic acid and urea is the First Aid Beauty KP Smoothing Body Lotion. #drkatiebeleznay #dermatologist #skincare #darkelbows #darkknees #hyperpigmentationtreatment #skintips
