We love our sharks, and we love this photo by @radimklimes from Lady Elliott Island. Sharks are very misunderstood creatures. There have been 190 fatal shark attacks in Australia... since 1791. That's less than 1 fatal shark attack per year. Cows kill about 7 people each year in Australia, and kangaroos kill about 6. Meanwhile, humans kill almost 100 million sharks each year! Sharks are extremely important for maintaining the health of our coastal ecosystems, especially reefs such as this one. Without sharks, whole ecosystems would suffer, and since those ecosystems are so important to our survival (over half our oxygen comes from the seas!) we actually owe a lot to sharks. 🦈 #TravelQLD
