This June, a conservative-stacked Supreme Court is expected to rule on whether to uphold a 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi, which could effectively make Roe obsolete in as many as 26 states. A leaked draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito signals that the court has indeed decided to overturn Roe, calling the ruling “egregiously wrong from the start.” The stakes aren’t simply high—they are dire.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Dr. Erin King, the executive director at Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City, Illinois, and a small team from the Planned Parenthood about 30 minutes away in Fairview Heights, Illinois, have been preparing for this moment since 2019.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The group came together to hatch a plan.
