4 reasons to workout today that have nothing to do with changing how you look. If I’m not careful, even I sometimes slip into the trap of training only for specific goal, like hitting certain numbers or working on some type of my body part that I want to ‘improve’. But the result of seeing exercise as a means to an end will only lead to us falling off the bandwagon and being stuck in that cycle of: ‘Trainings been really great recently’ to... ‘I need to get back on it, it’s been too long’ Remembering the fundamentals of exercise and why it can be so beneficial can help stop us falling into that trap And keep us showing up week after week, and in turn, getting results Because we’re not motivated by anything external We do it for internal reasons that we know are going to benefit our lives. Here are my 4 reasons for working out that rank much higher on my priority list than changing the way I look 1. Builds confidence - You might not feel on top of the world after every workout, but you can pretty much guarantee you’ll feel better than when before you started. 2. Reduces anxiety - By channeling all your energy and attention to the task at hand (the workout) exercise can be meditative and allow you to take your mind off things which are giving you anxiety, and return to them in a clearer and more optimistic headspace after you’ve finished training. 3. Increases productivity - Research has shown exercise to give you a productivity boost of up to 31%. Who wouldn’t want that? 4. Improves sleep - Putting physical strain on your body requires a higher demand for it to recover and repair, meaning when it’s bed time, your brain is going to fall into a deeper state of sleep to enable optimal recovery.
