Well, shoot. I was having too much fun this summer and haven’t shared any of the great projects I’ve had the pleasure of working on - this one included! I met Jen Mulkey after a friend had recommended her to me to cut me a rad mini-mullet as my pixie was growing out - needless to say she fucking nailed it. We got to talking (as you do in a hair salon) and I mentioned the business I was starting. On my next visit she mentioned she was making a big move by opening her own studio in the Capenter’s Union Hall in Butte, America and that should was in the need of a new logo and website. “Hell yes, sign me up!” I said and got to work shortly after. We worked through settling on a brand name and entertained a couple different iterations of the logo until we landed here. Her brand colors were inspired by the checkered floors and the stained glass in her space. The blue is homage to her badass blue coveralls she wears every time she has cut my hair. The textures and patterns were inspired by some retro Atari-type art work. I wanted the feel of this brand to fun and timeless, nodding to the rich history of Butte unions without being too Atari. She let me run wild with this project and I couldn’t be more stoked for how it turned out. You are a legend @Jen.mulkey @unionparlor - mullets have never looked so damn good.
