What I wish my #ChristmasEve looked like vs what it actually looks like. 🥶➡️ The #BuffaloBlizzard is no joke! Totally snowed in with a strict travel ban since yesterday morning and it’s not looking like things are going to change in time for Christmas Day. 🎁🎄 (If you’re curious, swipe ➡️ for the 4 minutes I went outside and got mild frostbite) It stinks to know that I’m separated from more than half my family (we couldn’t make it to be with each other in time before the travel ban started/ total whiteout). ❄️ While it’s a bummer we aren’t all together, we ARE all safe, warm, with power and plenty of food. It’s heartbreaking to know that people are stuck in their cars, stranded, without power and without their families. Emergency services are unable to make it through the impassible roads to get to people who are in need of medical help. As someone who grew up in snow country, this is the first time I’m seeing how truly dangerous it can be. Tonight, I’m grateful for a warm home, food in a refrigerator that still has power, and the family members that I DO get to see (even if that means we won’t be opening presents tomorrow morning). We are certainly making the best of it over here! Friendly reminder that the holidays can be difficult on everyone — and this unexpected storm is making it even more difficult for thousands. Writing this caption feels so “dramatic” to me, but it’s so easy to forget about others this time of year. We are so busy buying presents and making plans, we forget. I forgot too.
