The 18th Birthday of any of my children is always special, as it is like the end of a great poem or the lyrics of a song. It’s the end but yet the beginning of a chapter that leads us into new horizons and catapults us into the rhythm of young adulthood (as we old people term it). The love we put into getting them to this point in life is immense, yet the award that it gives us is all-consuming... . We say we love our children with a casual breath & we emphasize to them in ways they don’t always see in us. We tell them we love them to the moon & beyond & always try to put an exclamation point on it by saying, “I Love You More”! Yet these moments are fleeting & go by so fast that we can’t breathe without losing our breaths in anticipation of them...
