When Silvia Salas-Sanchez (@_masmasa) started the YouTube channel @AbuelasKitchen, it became a tribute to the wisdom and value that elders bring to our world, through her own abuela's delicious recipes. Silvia's abuela passed away at the end of 2021, and while returning to the kitchen—"our happy place"—was difficult, her community's support encouraged her to keep cooking. "That’s how I continue to keep her memory and her legacy alive," Silvia says. "All the messages I have received from our audience are the things that push me to continue to just share. Because this is something that my abuela would have wanted. And so, as a means to cope, I began to create again."
