They’ve convinced us that there’s something wrong with us, as opposed to the truth that we in our families are, and have been historically, undersupported or wholly unsupported.⁣ ⁣ When lacking systemic and institutional support or sustenance, it becomes nearly impossible to raise children from a calm, connected space. ⁣ ⁣ Then, we blame and shame ourselves for not doing or being “enough”.⁣ ⁣ Or sometimes, our parents. ⁣ ⁣ Or worse, we blame our children.⁣ ⁣ Then, the adverse outcomes from the lack of support become criminalized, in schools and beyond. ⁣ ⁣ Then, they take away more concrete resources— like the freedoms to live, work with dignity, and prosper. ⁣ ⁣ Then, we become more stressed. Plus we carry the weight of collective trauma, with poverty and suffering all around. ⁣ ⁣ Then, the stress impacts our ability to regulate, to reflect, to connect. ⁣ ⁣ Then, we buy into the lie that there’s something wrong with us.⁣ ⁣ PERO BASTA YA. We demand more. We refuse to participate in the puppet show anymore. Beyond equity, we deserve liberation. ⁣ ⁣ [this is not to side step individual responsibility to not perpetuate cycles of oppression, this should invite awareness on an individual level about the ways we perpetuate oppression at the most intimate level.
