On the heels of Dia de Los Muertos, comes this months print issue of @dwellmagazine where I was asked to create a holiday table scape inside our San Francisco Mission apartment alongside five other artists/designers. ______ Our home is a collection of items from our travels, things made by hand from people we know and/or admire— locally, and around the world. We only want to be surrounded by things that represent who we are as people, our cultures individually and together. Our space is a reflection of us and our community. 90% of our furnishings are vintage, upcycled, or made by real living artists. ______ When we moved to San Francisco eleven years ago, we began hosting holiday gatherings with an open-door policy due to the fact that we were far from our own families and figured others might be in the same situation. Family isn’t just blood, it can be anyone who has love in their heart. “Bring something to share” is the only rule. We have had everything from game nights to jazz concerts in our spaces with no expectations other than to embrace all who arrive with open arms. ______ This is what love built. ______ Thank you #nicholasalbrecht for coming to our home and sharing the day with us and capturing this moment.
