Juneteenth... I wanted to do something profound and special to celebrate this holiday. It feels like such a big moment and should have a splashy fabulous celebration to go with it right? But I kept getting stuck. No idea I could come up with felt right or good enough. Then, I remembered that my existence is enough. Walking in this skin. With this face. With these hands. Loving who I love, with pride... IS ENOUGH. The fact that I can create with flowers. Flowers that have most likely evolved from the contributions from the very same enslaved black farmers that this holiday highlights. Is a truth that penetrates through the layers of self doubt. Into the core of who I am. To remind me that, yes. I am enough. For this gift, I am grateful. For the chance to choose. I will celebrate. Happy Juneteenth everyone.
