⬇️ PLEASE READ ⬇️ About 6 months ago I was presented with the opportunity to be a camp counselor at a place called Pine Cove. Whilst I had always dreamed of getting a camp counselor job for a summer, I was nervous to say yes for a couple of reasons. The last summer camp I had tried to work at, I ended up leaving early because of a traumatic knee injury, and this summer camp was not only four times as big as my other camp, but also four times as far away. Nevertheless, after months of praying and procrastinating, I decided to trust God and allow Him to take control. So I booked some flights, packed a single suitcase, and hoped that everything would work out. What I found in Flint, TX can be only described as the most fulfilling summer I’ve ever experienced in my life. Witnessing hundreds of college students who were seeking Jesus in the same way as I was filled me with motivation, enthusiasm and an energy that can only be described as “strawberry shortcake” as my friend @raquelwalden put it. I was ready to embrace this summer and every challenge put in front of me. Now reflecting on everything I have learned and experienced, I can confidently say that there is nothing I could have done to prepare for this summer. But that is the entire point; I serve a God who has my entire story written out for me and all I have to do is trust His plans and pray for them to be revealed to me. He taught me how to tackle my pride, confront lies of the world, be joyful in all circumstances, push through my physician exhaustion, care only about my Father’s view of me, and so much more. I have indeed been transformed by the renewal of my mind and I hope that others get to experience the same thing as me. Praise be to God for all of the good work done this summer!
