A friend once asked me if I wait around for street photos - for moments with or without people, cars, etc. I don't, and usually I take them while I'm walking, plus there's usually movement around me. Now combing through a stockpile of my photos and noticing a lot of photos taken while waiting for other things like coffee, friends, traffic lights, doughnuts, buses, coffee, trains, for rain to stop, etc. So here you go, two of three photos I took while waiting for the bus. This is the Cosmopolitan State Bank building, built in 1920 by Schmidt, Garden, and Martin. It was landmarked by the City Of Chicago in 2008. From the outside, the building doesn't look like it's over 100 years old, but take a peek on the inside and you'll see the wood paneled walls and other ornate details of the era. The last image, circa April 1921, comes from the publication, The American Architect. At that time there were huge eagles atop the building, but at some point they were removed and it looks like one now guards the parking entrance. I'm not sure if the garage-guard-eagle used to be on the roof, but it's really big and looks out of place where it stands.
