After a failed attempt on the Sphinx in 2019, I talked to @steepskiing and he told me, "You know, you don't have to climb the lines in the Chugach. They were always meant as Heli-lines." Which in the context of the time the book came out, made a lot of sense. But for me, I still didn't want to be ushered to the top because times have changed. Sure there has been a long long history of skiers climbing and descending badass mountains and lines. But for me, the same year the Fifty book came out, @jeremyjones released Deeper and opened up my mind to the possibilities of climbing freeride lines in Alaska. So a decade later, after a career of filming in ski movies and riding lines in AK via machine, it felt like there was little challenge in using a whirly bird to go tag Pontoon, Meteorite and The Sphinx. So I stuck to my idea for the project and wanted to continue to attempt to climb and ski all the lines in the book. Now on Wednesday, you get to see how that return to the Sphinx went. 📸: @bjarnesalen ⛷️: @edshanley 🏂️: @nick_russelll
