I thoroughly enjoyed Art Palm Beach’s kickoff event this evening. Held at the Palm Beach County convention center, the event brings in hundreds of artists from all over, including right in South Florida. I always love this fair because there are some unique pieces that I haven’t seen elsewhere. Those who came out on this rainy evening, enjoyed some complementary champagne, and they also had paella. Everyone dressed in luxury, whether it was glam, classic style, quirky, casual, hipster, you name it– there were all types, but everyone looked fabulous. One of the big draws was Big Birk, a giant yellow Birkin bag. And boy was it big! This great oversized luxury bag was perfect for photo ops. I had a chance to meet and talk to the artist and get a quick snap from just the right angle. There were plenty of art pieces that were interactive, that changed with those who viewed them, or that were just surprising. And there were other classic pieces, as well as pieces I had seen in the past. It was a nice mix. There was a performance by Florida harpist Esther Underhay. I met some great people. I was surprised I didn’t see one person I knew. That is so unusual for me. Many of the artists were in attendance. I always highly recommend this show. It always has unique pieces, interesting characters, and great people watching. It is a very Palm Beach experience. It is also a very intimate atmosphere. And parking is very inexpensive.
