People over complicate branding and marketing strategies.
9 years ago I set up my company in a small run down area of Oldham. 🏚
I knew absolutely nothing about marketing let alone pushing myself as a BRAND to other GLOBAL brands. 🌍
That idea seemed like a deluded dream! 🏦
9 years on I feel exactly the f%*kin same.
I genuinely believe if you are good at something and stay completely true to who you are, your beliefs can market you accordingly.
The BRAND comes when you believe in what you are doing and this originality and uniqueness then stands out into something you identify as. Thus creating {THE BRAND}
I never once in my career have tried to mimic another brand, replicate what another company is doing or ride someone’s waves.
I’ve stood strong in my beliefs.
In the early days it closed a lot of doors as I was very head strong and argumentative but nearly 10 years on.
You know what you get is just me.
Try not over complicated marketing strategies, just be YOU! Talk about what interests you, not what you think people want to hear.
REMEMBER PEOPLE BUY INTO YOUR ethos or what you have created!
Ive work for some truly amazing brands within my industry [Squire, Chris & Sons, Babyliss, Wahl, Modern Barber, Salon international, Hairdressers Journal, The Fellowship, MHFed, Classic Barber Products, Xotics, Kevin Murphy, Balmain, Toppik] to reel off a small amount.
When I go into a meeting or a zoom call in America, I don’t give them answers I think they want to hear, I give them my honest opinion. As raw as it is sometimes.
Same with marketing believe in what you’re selling! Whether it’s a haircut, shoes or 8 inch dil*o your passion will come across within your marketing techniques, thus elevating the “Brand”.
Having a strong logo, colour grade and unique selling point will then stand you the test of time.
The reason Joe & Co, Tariq Howes, Ruger , Menspire & Hard Grind works is they stand out with unique marketing techniques true to their beliefs. It stands out heads and shoulders above the competition. Usually replicated.
Similar with my own branding it’s just me.
