28.10.22 It is with huge disappointment that we have had to cancel our bonfire night party at @kudhva in Cornwall. We were so looking forward to it, but unfortunately we haven’t sold enough tickets to make it possible so it will not be able to go ahead. It sure feels demoralising but we absolutely recognise that we are in extremely uncertain times and financial pressures are high for everybody. Our events are not profit driven, but we do need to cover costs and the truth is many of those occur well before the event - hiring equipment, sourcing and ordering produce, PR & Marketing to get the word out there, not to mention the labour involved in the planning. We think it is part of the responsibility of trying to work ethically that our work is economically as well as environmentally or ecologically sustainable. Paying fair wages and proper prices for quality produce is something that we are fastidious about, but even on a night where we are charging a ticket fee, we often still rely on the goodwill of those in our community to be involved on an exchange basis. A huge shoutout to everyone who had bought tickets and who has been involved in the process so far - we hope very much that you all still get together under the stars with a bonfire of sorts and enjoy the first weekend in November irrespective of plans changing. All in all it’s an experience we’re going to take some time dissecting in order to make our next steps as a business more risk averse, so we can be confident that our work continues to inspire positive change and connections between those moving mountains to make great things happen in the regenerative movement.
