Happy V day! When l was a teenager, l went to Quran school in Istanbul with my twin sister. A place where hundreds of girls were living together, and humming Quran verses all throughout the corridors all day along. When l became a photographer l wanted return to the place which would allow me to see myself back then. For this project l went to six different cities across Turkey visiting different Quran schools, which took four years to complete. It sheds light and insight into the young girl's hearts and minds, and opens up a sealed world. I had the most precious and unforgettable days of my life there, and made my best friendships that still continue. Finally, l want to introduce you with my first photobook Hafız, published by @redhookeditions . It focuses on female memorizers as my tribute to those who are keeping the tradition of Prophet Mohammad by being guardians of the Quran for future generations. Thank you to my Valentine @jasoneskenazi , for believing in me, and his sharp criticism, and helping sequence the book over one year on our metal board. The cover and endpapers were made by local Turkish artists, with the title page drawn by one of the Quran school girls.
