Imagine leaving your home after over 20yrs and going to a strange land with absolutely nothing. Scary isn’t strong enough to describe it. 50 yrs ago today my folks landed in Canada from Uganda - on the last flight before a dictator did the unthinkable to people who looked like them. While this country has its issues - we are privileged to live in this nation w/ the rights & freedoms we have. I am SO proud & thankful of my parents for everything they’ve accomplished and provided for us. This newspaper article is from November 9th, 1972 where they met the Mayor of Summerside, PEI just 2 days after they landed in the country and were taken to this small town. What they’ve been able to achieve is incredibly beautiful. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
