If you’re a messy cook slash serial condiment hoarder like me, squeezing in a pantry might be one of the best decisions you can make for a kitchen. Mine is 1.2m x 1.6m internally so it’s small but oh so effective...
We have a very basic under counter fridge behind the curtain for drinks and wine (I’m sorry but unless you’re a sommelier those fancy glass wine fridges that retail for ££££ are a waste of money) and this is where we store all our cleaning stuff, vacuum, microwave, dog food, water jugs, tins and boxes etc and it’s also where our boiler is housed (that’s the cupboard you can see). The sink is great for muckier jobs/cleaning our dog bowls etc, plus it’s quite nice if you have a big party to be able to put all the washing up in here out of sight before dealing with it when everyone has gone home.
The floor tiles I just fell for and had to squeeze in somewhere and I actually like having a different floor in here to the kitchen to really zone it. You can’t see in this photo but it has a swinging stable door which I love. I wanted a door to the pantry to close it off (and conceal the chaos!) but a proper door would be a total pain given how small it is. Plus I have a little thing for stable doors in general. Hilariously this seems to be the thing that people like the most in the whole house. Having lived in flats for the last 14 years with pretty small kitchens and no where to store the stuff you’d rather not see on a daily basis, I get it! 🙌🏼
