SHIFTING SCAPES - INTERSECTIONS This project is one part of a three chapter series titled ‘Shifting Scapes,’ which synthesizes photography, sculpture, and land-art in three distinct terrains: desert, wetlands, and mountains. In this chapter the attention shifts to elevations in the Italian Alps, exploring the interiors and surrounding of the cavernous terrain. Long sheets of aluminum foil are mended together to create malleable sculptures. These objects transform and reflect the shape of the surrounding landscape, while simultaneously appearing as minerals already present in the space. The resulting installations are light and empty volumes, made of a disposable human commodity. These alien bodies rise out of the surface of the earth—so deeply intertwined with it—that they could be of its own production.
