For the legions of women who have been mourning @fashionfaircosmetics disappearance from beauty counters, some good news: the iconic, standard-setting makeup brand designed for Black and brown women is back, with new owners and a new look. “I feel like Fashion Fair is putting her crown back on,” co-owner Desirée Rogers @iamthatdesiree tells #MarleyMarius in #theseptemberissue.
If you’re not familiar with the brand co-founded by publishing legend Eunice W. Johnson in 1973—or the traveling fashion show of the same name that she started in the 1960s to bring highlights from the Paris collections to the fashion-mad yet largely overlooked Black middle class—there is even more of a reason to dig into this story ahead of the brand’s arrival @sephora on 9/1, with @kikilayne as ambassador. In a saturated marketplace, Rogers and her partner, @cherylmayberrymckissack —who both grew up watching their mothers use Fashion Fair—are firm believers that the brand’s narrative still means something. They just may be onto something. Link in Stories. 📸Layne, photographed by #tylermitchell for Vogue, 2019. @voguebeauty @voguemagazine
