We need to change the conversation; so much of the narrative on the climate crisis is about plastic straws and personal change, which is vital, but this crisis must be linked back to the protection of human rights, a tectonic shift in our economic and political practices, and stoping the sixth mass extinction of biodiversity. Young people being in spaces is only the beginning. I hope to have shown that young voices bring a sense of urgency, passion, and accountability in spaces of power. But institutions are only pretending to listen. We need accountability through public transparency in climate investments and in decarbonisation commitments, so that we can track if your work is real or just more greenwashing. Sure, we are in these boardrooms, and receptions and conferences and meetings, but what are you saying in these to them, and what actions are they taking in response. As activists we are instruments of disruption, so stand up and speak out. There is no business as usual on a burning planet!
