This was a heartbreaking moment I managed to capture when this spotted eagle ray was really struggling and stressed trying to find his way back to open water. On multiple attempts he tried to swim towards the shark nets but when he got close was obviously effected by some sort of electronic pulse which quickly made him change his course of direction. I followed him for about 15 minutes trying to encourage him towards the end of the shark net and after a long and painful experience to watch this little guy finally made it to the end and swam off into the open ocean. Hopefully he manages to get over this ordeal and comes back to visit us again sometime. With the shark nets causing problems on our coastline on multiple occasions already this season with 2 humpback whales getting entangled during this whale season. I hope sooner rather then later we can come up with a more suitable and effective way to protect both our swimmers and our marine life. WE NEED THEM MORE THEN THEY NEED US. STOP WHALE AND MARINE LIFE ENTANGLEMENTS AND REMOVE THE SHARK NETS.
