Three weeks ago today, I tore my left knee ACL, lateral and medial meniscus, caused knee cartilage deformations, broke my right foot, and had rhabdo. I was hospitalized and now I have knee surgery on December 5th. Here I am biking and training already , just awaiting surgery so I can begin healing.
The time between injury and surgery can feel like a waiting game—full of uncertainty, frustration, and the overwhelming urge to just “fix it already.” But it’s also a critical period for reflection and preparation.
This is the time to shift focus: from what you can’t do to what you can. Whether it’s maintaining mobility in other areas, staying mentally sharp, or diving into rehab exercises, every small action helps set the foundation for recovery.
It’s not easy. There are days of doubt and moments where the waiting feels endless. But this phase isn’t wasted—it’s part of the process. It’s where resilience is built and where you prove to yourself that you are more than the injury.
Take it one day at a time, and trust that brighter days are ahead. You’re stronger than this moment. #mentalfortitude #athleterecovery #builtdifferent
