Take a sneak peak at the next generation of our Great Reef Census Analysis Platform! 👀 After blowing GRC 2 out of the water (quite literally) last year, and collecting a whopping 42,000 survey images(!!), our mates over at @dell have been helping us make it easier for citizen scientists to analyse survey images. 🔍🥼 Thanks to new deep learning (AI) technology, the tech geniuses at Dell have developed a segmentation model that reduces the time it takes to analyse Great Reef Census survey images by pre-detecting targeted coral species and elements of the reef. Now, citizen scientists will simply need to label the pre-detected segments with the correct coral species. 🐠 Get ready - we'll be calling upon citizen scientists from around the world to help us analyse survey images using this new technology very soon! 🤙 The Great Reef Census is a Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef project in partnership with @uniofqld, @gbrmarinepark, @australianmarinescience, @jamescookuniversity. It is funded by the partnership between the Australian Government's Reef Trust and the @greatbarrierreeffoundation, @priorfoundation, @cottononfoundation, @rrrc_reef_and_rainforest and the Australian Government's National Environmental Science Program
