This week Gear Check post:⁠ ⁠ 1. Brought the @salomonfreeski QST Blank 194's for this mission. For a freeride style line like this, a big charger ski is what ya want. My only regret was not having a pair of Blanks mounted with Shift bindings with me in my van...I ended up with a pair mounted with the MTN tech binding which wasn't super ideal for a line like this. I felt like I had to ski far within my boundaries of control to limit the chances for a tomahawk on tech toes...something you do not want to be doing. ⁠ 2. This is pretty much my travel kit, @thule duffle and ski bag and my @yeti Crossroad 35 backpack. I prefer traveling with duffles simply because of the weight savings. A lot of wheeled duffles weigh up to 10lbs, which means 10 less pounds of gear you can bring with you. Duffles are a little harder to lug around (as you can see here) but when bringing gear is mandatory, that weight saving is essential.⁠ 3. Used the @mammutna Pro 35 Removable Airbag 3.0 for this mission. A lot of the lines in the book an airbag would be of little use in the event of an avalanche due to exposure...but this line, well if it were to slide, this is the exact sorta line an Airbag would help minimize you chances of burial.⁠ 4. @honeystinger Performance Chews. I like to keep them in my pocket to keep em warm and gooey and pop one or two at a time as you progress up the bootpack. It's like a little reward for every 500 vert you do.⁠ 5. The things are my feet are @auftriib Cramplifiers. I started testing these carbon fiber climbing plates in 2020 before the guy behind the company, Andreas had launched. I was impressed with their durability despite the extremely lightweight make up and they've found a spot in my pack any day I might be bootpacking in soft snow. Without 'em, climbing up a line like the Sphinx in pow would be either impossible or a 8 hour uphill swim.⁠ 6. Last thing, the @mammutna airbag and traveling with it. I'll actually have a bonus episode coming out next week going a bit more into detail on traveling with canister airbags and what went inside on this day.⁠
