Welcome to the Neighbourhood! (A Brum story) w/ @gymshark + @trphse.worldwide + @boxout_uk created by Rafael.V 🖤👹🦈 Amongst all the visual examples of physical and mental excellence on display amongst the attendees of this event, there was a beautiful story I saw that was being told without words 👁 A story of celebrating black personal trainers and their unique excellence within the areas they inhabit 🏋🏾‍♂️ If you know me, you’ll know I feel strongly about my people winning, getting the right representation and acknowledgement for their excellence... If I be real with you, there’s plenty of events + initiatives I’ve seen that have been created to celebrate “Blackness”, that have lacked representation of the matter in both attendance and essence 🚫 However this was totally different. I have to give props to the good people at @gymshark for cultivating a turnout that made the presence of black personal trainers + fitness enthusiasts, very strongly felt in all facets of the event ✊🏾 From the DJ’s soundtracking the day, to the black-owned businesses who helped curate the event, to the sheer numbers and faces of the culture who were in attendance, everything about this felt right! 🖤 I love being able to shoot + create around things I’m passionate about, so this was definitely a special one. big up Birmingham every fkn time.
