Constructing the Contemporary Narrative Workshop: In-Person October 14th - 15th & 16th The New York Academy of Art and The Church of Sag Harbor are excited to offer the opportunity to participate in a workshop with artist, Eric Fischl, exploring the subtle complexities involved in constructing and painting contemporary narratives. This will be an extended three-day weekend workshop in Fischl’s hometown of Sag Harbor, NY. The workshop will focus on the nature of body language and the ways that is can be used as a painting tool to evoke associations attached to memory and emotion. Using the technique of collage to construct narrative compositions, the workshop will explore how to utilize photoshop as a sketch tool that can be translated into scenes to be painted. Due to the very limited number of participants for this exclusive workshop, interested students are asked to submit five images of their own work in oil painting via email. Images should be no larger than 1 MB each in .jpg format and should be labeled with your first and last name (lastname_firstname1.jpg). Please send these images to [email protected] no later than September 1st, 2022. The subject of this email should read “Your Name (last name, first name) Images for Fischl Workshop” A limited number of merit scholarships will be offered. To be considered for a merit scholarship, in addition to the five images of artwork, please submit a written Statement demonstrating financial need (less than one page) and a Curriculum Vitae to [email protected].
