It’s a Himalayan goat... antelope? What in the world are we takin about? 🤔 Well, meet the takin (Budorcas taxicolor). This unique species of goat antelope belongs to the family Bovidae, which includes sheep, goats, and antelopes. Found in the Himalayas, it feeds on grasses, leaves, and salt. The takin has special adaptations that help it stay warm during extremely cold conditions: A secondary coat, which grows in the winter and sheds in the summer, specialized sinus cavities that warms the air it inhales before it enters the lungs, and oily skin that helps repel chilly precipitation.
