Are you looking to wish upon a shooting star? Well, you may be in luck! Tonight, the sky is expected to light up with shooting stars, also known as meteors, from the Geminids meteor shower. With rates approaching one meteor per minute during the morning hours, the Geminids are one of the best meteor showers of the year. Unfortunately, this year the moon will be in its waning gibbous phase, which is when the moonlight is shrinking from its full moon phase. Moonlight could limit the number of meteors visible.
The best time to see the showers will be tonight into tomorrow, peaking around 2 a.m.
Where are you planning to view the Geminids from?
