one week in the new digs ~
one week ago, i signed a lease on a place [entirely my own, a dream space] in Denver;
one week ago, i came home.
for those of you who are new here, this is why it’s such a milestone for me:
in January 2015, i dropped out of college due to financial reasons and for the better part of the past eight and a half years since, i’ve spent my life on the road, living out of bags. this life was no stranger to me, as my family lost our home in the 2008 recession and it wasn’t until March of 2013 – the end of my senior year of high school – that we were able to secure [somewhat] stable housing. but as an adult, i embraced this life and the freedom it allowed for, as well as the adventure and spontaneity it invited into my life.
the only times in the past 8+ years i’ve enjoyed a home base were when i lived in Thailand 2017-2018, then in Los Angeles 2019-2020, and for ~six weeks last year in Austin; but even in those situations, i was traveling extensively.
more and more over the past year and a half – especially with everything this year regarding my health – i’ve desired nothing more than to find a place i can call home... my own home. a place to slow down. a place to let my body rest. a place where my inner child and younger selves can continue to heal. a place where my spirit and creativity can flourish. a place i can open to friends and loved ones visiting or passing thru. a place i can provide for my plants to thrive. a place i can feel safe in, knowing the space and its energy cannot be affected by outside forces if i do not allow it.
if you hear me say i manifested this shit, know that means i talked about it non-stop for a year and a half [my friends can attest to that], and journaled about it, and imagined myself in a space like this, and hustled my ass off to pay down medical bills and save $$$,
and i finally have a space i can call home.
Denver, thank you for having me🧡
