Scottish skateboarder John Rattray started Why So Sad in 2019 with the mission to improve mental health in the skateboarding community. In 2020, he tells Skaetism “I hope that one day we’ll be able to talk about depression, anxiety and even suicidal thoughts the same way we talk about a swellbow.” Rattray and Nike SB have come together to promote this cause with the upcoming Why So Sad x Nike SB Dunk Low. The sneaker is dressed in a light blue leather base with dark blue suede overlays which can be removed to expose yellow panels underneath. Padded mesh tongue, question-mark embroidered heel tabs, Predatory Bird branding, and custom insoles are only some of the many details throughout.
