#MondaysWithMaestro — Today begins rehearsals for Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin." And as he prepares to take the podium in his U.S. debut, conductor Vassilis Christopoulos is here to share his favorite moments from the show!
One of the most famous arias, of course, is "Eugene Onegin's" famous letter scene: It's nighttime, but our heroine, the young country girl Tatyana, is wide awake, grappling with her feelings for the aloof newcomer Eugene. So she turns to pen and paper.
Tatyana pours her heart into a love letter, addressed to Eugene — a note that captures both her naivety and the complex emotions roiling in her soul.
But don't take our word for it. Let Christopoulos (@vassilis.christopoulos) break it down for you at the piano! Hear the music the way a conductor does. Then come see it live on stage when "Eugene Onegin" opens this September: sfopera.com/onegin
