The first Filipino queer immigrant in an @nycpride campaign at Times Square 🏳️‍🌈🇵🇭 6 years ago I came to nyc with no savings, no connections, zero plans — just two suitcases and a goal to hopefully survive the big apple. I spent a big chunk of the first year broke and unemployed, down to the point where I wanted to give up and go back to the Philippines because I failed to amount to anything... I’m so glad I didn’t listen to any of that bullshit lol. I’m grateful to have worked in some of the most prestigious companies in fashion + beauty, but most of all, grateful to have met my chosen family who continuously inspire me to grow and be better. Never in a million years would I have thought that a girl from Pampanga would be part of something so monumental and be able to represent little pinoy queers who are fighting to be visible and be celebrated for being authentically themselves.
