Grief, loss and bereavement are some of the most difficult emotions to cope with.
When you're close to a person living with dementia, these emotions can arise at different times and in different ways. They can be felt at the time of their diagnosis and as their dementia progresses, not just at the end of their life and after their death.
After a significant death is reported in the news, we often reflect on our situations and experiences of loss. Therefore these difficult emotions can be heightened or retriggered.
We want people to know that they don't have to cope with these difficult emotions alone. Our dedicated support pages have loads of advice for handling grief, loss, and bereavement for loved ones effected by dementia and the person living with dementia.
