This was the future that inventor Jacques Bolsey imagined...a time when everyone could record memories and tell their stories. One of his first camera inventions was the iconic Bolex movie camera. As depicted in Steven Spielberg's new autobiographical film, "The Fabelmans," the Bolex not only allowed the young director to film family vacations, but also served to nurture the development of his filmmaking skills. Many other famed directors also cut their filmmaking teeth on Bolex cameras. Perhaps you did as well? Now, the great-granddaughter of Jacques Bolsey has made a wonderful, award-winning documentary, "Beyond the Bolex," tracing the origins of this iconic camera, in part through a deep dive into family history.
