‘Why have hope?’ - Just a few hours after the Roe V Wade decision was announced, I was on a panel about climate + health at @aspenideas presented by the @cdcfound . It was an all women panel with people I greatly admire and it was a heavy day to say the least. I had tears bubbling under my eyes, like many of us did, and when an audience member asked us why they should continue to have hope, especially on a day like that, I didn’t know what to say because I was asking myself the same question - but then I thought of the joy of my mother, my grandmothers, my great grandmothers who still managed to smile, have joy, and have hope despite it all and that gives me hope even while mourning the society I wanted.
