“Nobody feels the sounds like Phil Cook feels the sounds,” said a longtime friend. The piano is a place that I seek out & when I begin playing I’m no longer in charge—it’s the valve that balances my inner and outer worlds. This is the place I self-preserve. A place to put all my unknowables & sorrow. A place to celebrate connection, truth & beauty. A place where the world falls away.
