This month I made the biggest declaration of #selflove that I’ve ever made, and what’s transpired since then has truly been the ultimate challenge. Not hard, but a challenge for me. (If you’ve been around here you can take a quick scroll and know what I’m talking about 😕)
One thing that self love and compassion will make you do is turn the love you give to others and the world, on to yourself. And here’s what that messes up:
- I’ve missed deadlines
- I’ve missed important messages
- I can’t focus on my work
- My creativity went on vacation to Thailand I’m guessing
- I’ve lost sleep and missed meals... (not advocating for either because I cherish both deeply)
The list goes on and it’s disappointing to the part of me that defines success as being “on”. But what’s been the biggest success to me in this season of “dropping the ball” is picking it up for myself. Knowing what I need, who I need, and taking care of myself first and foremost.
Exercise has been a huge part of that and I’m grateful to people in my life like my trainer @askcoachmaggie who constantly encourages me to be strong and show up for myself in ways that don’t necessarily benefit anyone else. My therapist, my closest friends and family have done the same.
If you’re on the receiving end of my dropping the ball, this is a public apology and I will have more privately. But I wanted to share the message to anyone going through a challenging transition in life that You Are Good! And you’re even better when you pour back into YOU first, no matter the implications. You’ll come back 10 fold, because what you don’t think you can handle, God’s handling while you’re away.
Woof! Keep pushing & keep loving on yourself 💗💗🙏🏽🙏🏽
