In Oct of 2015 Marcus was in Los Angeles for a weekend and reached out to me about writing some music together. What I didn’t realize at the time was how strange writing music outside of the context of his band must have been for him. It would have been a total recalibration in terms of what a song can or can’t say. 5 years later we had our first follow up session and I saw how far Marcus was pushing those personal boundaries in his songwriting, and it was inspiring. For the next 2 years we chipped away bit by bit at his album, Self- Titled, and it’s been an unforgettable experience. I want to thank you, Marcus, for choosing me to explore this terrain with you, and to @josephlorge for fully immersing himself in it with us as well.
