Many of the GIs in this photo never made it home. Their weekend in the beautiful Waikiki during WWII was but a dream in the nightmare that awaited them. This Memorial Day weekend we’re pausing to remember those who sacrificed their lives in the fight for our rights & freedom. A reminder that freedom is never free— and that each generation must learn for itself the true costs of our ongoing experiment in Democracy.
