As the smoke begins to clear, a friendly reminder to continue to show up for friends & families that have lost everything from the fires. I have never seen our LA community so united and supportive of one another and it is so empowering to experience firsthand. But the work is just beginning. The coming weeks... months.. years.. is when those affected will need our help the most. Many have spent the last week processing what had just happened and figuring out temporary situations. So now the reality of it all might just be hitting them. I urge you to continue to check in, lead with kindness, and support in any way you can. While the media cycle and fanfare may start to fade, I hope that the urgency still remains. Donate, volunteer, amplify stories of the victims, foster a displaced animal, make efforts to lower your carbon footprint, share resources, help rebuild community.. and most of all LOVE. The Sunday before the fires started, I was fortunate enough to drive PCH — as we knew it — one last time. Living in Studio City, the fastest route to get to Malibu and back is to take the canyon. On my way home, I was like “You know what... it’s the start of the new year and I haven’t driven PCH in a while. It’s a gorgeous day, the sun is out, and driving along the ocean will be very grounding. Maybe it’ll take longer, but it’ll be worth it.” And that it was. If you are looking for current ways to help, I’ve added a story highlight where you can find all the resources I’ve shared thus far. I will continue to share and plan to hold myself accountable to all that I just said above. This is not over yet. I love you, Los Angeles ❤️ We are all in this together.
