The theme of this year’s World Menopause Month is cognition and mental health.
Psychological and emotional changes are common during the perimenopause and menopause.
The hormones estrogen, progesterone and testosterone all work on various areas of our brains. When levels of these hormones reduce during the perimenopause and menopause then symptoms of low mood, anxiety, poor concentration, reduced self esteem, intrusive thoughts and irritability can occur.
