Happy to close 2021 with a new album that is released today!⁣ ⁣ ‘There Up, Behind the Moon’, is a record that I made in collaboration with Romanian musician Ana Stamp. Ana and I spent over two years researching, arranging and recording Romanian folklore songs, aiming to give new context to these traditional, forgotten melodies. Many of the tracks on the album are arrangements from traditional Romanian “star songs” and carols, usually in connection to various rituals that take place throughout the year.⁣ ⁣ This is the first album I have made with a vocalist and it was an interesting challenge to work with these very old and beautiful melodies. The album is also almost completely acoustic, and recording it was also an interesting learning process for me, aided along by a pair of vintage Neumann mic's which I treated myself to in 2020 :-) ⁣ ⁣ The album is available to purchase digitally on bandcamp today, and is also available to stream on all platforms (links in bio).
