🌙 CORVUS AND THE BAKUNAWA 🌙 12x24” Acrylic on canvas $1500 BEHIND THE PIECE 👽 I started my deep dive into the cosmos (the theme for the show) and found myself inspired by the Corvus [crow] constellation. This constellation is depicted as a raven perched atop Hydra, the water snake constellation below it. As a native Floridian, I opted to specifically use the fish crow as it’s a fellow Floridian. To honor my Filipino roots, I chose the Bakunawa in lieu of Hydra. The bakunawa is a serpent-like dragon in Philippine mythology that is believed to be the cause of eclipses.
